Entertainment and Sports Committees

September 27, 2010

Hey IRC,

We have to new committee chairs.

Entertainment Committee – Shalaka Laxman (sl4cd)

-and-

Sports Committee – Alejandro Alcala (aa3nc)

__

We just had a trip to Humpback Rock planned by Allie Gaynor which was a great success.

Movie Nights with Rechung, Allie, Arturo, and Oliver have been going great.

And come out to Music Night on Thursday September 30 to listen to IRC musicians perform.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Coming up soon, did someone hear Assassins?  Yes!  In early October beware of your neighbors…

Last but not least, check out our website!  All Entertainment Committee events are stored here.

New Committee Chairs for Stall News and Cooking Coalition

September 10, 2010

Congrats to Rose Zu (Stall News) and Stacy Stafford (Cooking Coalition) respectively!

As the Cooking Committee is a new committee, I’m especially excited to see what direction it takes over the course of the year. So far, it loans out pots, pans, mixing bowls etc and plans for cooking events for residents, but I hope that a good cooking coalition culture will form as we continue with it.

The Stall News has always been another child of mine, as many residents from last year can attest to. I hope that  the new distribution system through the RAs will streamline the distribution of it and reduce awkward situations of people of different genders in the same toilet.

Oh, and we should get the IRC Council Board sign back up soon… this time in fire-retardant paper!

Priscilla,

Signing out

Move-In

September 3, 2010

Discussing how to best solve a challenge at the Poplar Ridge ropes course

The first two weeks of school are almost over. Lauren, Rana and I moved in on the 12th of August so it seems like way more than two weeks. When Olivia, Rowan, and Priscilla also moved in, it was a full house. During that week before move-in, Council basically had a mix of leadership training and a long to-do list. The ropes course with poplar ridge was great. It was really helpful in seeing each other’s leadership, communication, and challenge-response style.

SUCCESS!

Looking back, it was a very busy, but successful move-in. Actual move-in day was hot and sunny. Many of you were greeted by our super-friendly Council and RAs on Saturday. I know I met a lot of you on that day. It was fun seeing new residents help out with chalking directions and building names. 🙂

So excited to be at the IRC!

It was great to see enthusiasm and excitement from the first day. Thanks for a successful move-in day everyone!
